WVUP Foundation Accepts Mansion Ownership

A couple of months ago RCNN reported that the WVUP was exploring the purchase of the Stephenson Mansion on Seventh Street. Today, the property is being deeded to the WVUP Foundation along with the home’s furniture which dates back to the 1800s. College officials have discussed renovating the structure for use as a presidential home. The foundation’s finances are handled by foundation trustee Bob Newell (Parkersburg’s disgraced former mayor).

It is being reported that the property is being given to the foundation by the family, however it is well known that the necessary renovations will consume hundreds of thousands of dollars.
